The Etruscan Elites in Maturia
Etruscan elites captured a lot of the wealth that was coming from increasingly dense exchange networks and economic intensification more generally. They disproportionately participated in and benefited from the connectivity and mobility of this age. Non-elites were, and just like their social betters, they too could move. The historian Jeremy Armstrong has used the manufacture of bronze armor for one fantastic case study in this vein.
