Climate Change and Dengue Fever in Indonesia
In 2022, there were 1,490 cases of dengue fever in this hospital. 48 patients died. That's in one hospital across the country, more than 125,000 people were infected according to the EU Centre for Disease Control. And is that a big increase? In 2021, the number was around 73,000, so the numbers is doubled. Valia tells us that before in 2021, people were worried about catching COVID if they went to the hospital with dengue symptoms. But last year, though, they weren't so worried. She also talks to Dr. Imran Pambudhi who is the director of infectious diseases prevention and control of the health ministry of Indonesia
