HPI 10 - Crossover Appeal - The Nature of the Buddha’s Teaching
History of Philosophy: India, Africana, China
Introduction
Cross Over Appeal: The Nature of the Buddha's Teaching. John Arden Ghanari and Peter Adamson look at ideas that the Buddha bequeathed to history of philosophy in India. With his doctrine of no self, the Buddha rejected the Upanishadic idea of a search for the self as misguided. There may be no journey of self-discovery, but there is a journey nonetheless. For the Buddha, the destination is Nervana - extinction of attachment and desire.
