The Immigrant Family

Children of immigrant families are often caught in the crossfire as you see in a novel like White Teeth by Zadys Smith or a movie like The Big Sick. In Jesus' world was a strong group world and in that world your primary group was your family. This is why there are no surnames in the Bible. But because of that redefinition, we tend to judge strong groups cultures as oppressive to our individualism.
