Irenaeus of Leon, Gaul
St. Irenaeus of Leon is the first systematic theologian. He was born in Asia Minor, but lived in Gaul and had connections to Rome. There were Greek-speaking Christians who came from all over the Roman empire. The teaching of the Apostles was still ringing in people's ears at this time.
