The Life of the Mind and Joy

Fr. Jacob Bertrand says Dominicans are like craftsmen and tradesmen who hand on the tradition they learned from their forebears. In a Protestant seminary, preaching was more of a mimesis; you just kind of imitated those who were good at what they did. But in this one, there's no need to try something out of guard or anything that might be off-the-wall because everyone else is doing it too. So we'll take a short break here when we come back for contemplation, the life of the mind and joy.
