The Life of Emily Dickinson

Emily Dickinson sent four poems and her signature to E. Higginson in an enigmatic letter. She didn't sign the letter, instead she signed a separate piece of paper and put it in a smaller envelope inside of the larger envelope. Why did she do that? We don't know. Emily asked her sister, Livinia, to burn all of her correspondences when she died.
