"I didn't know, you know, when i first came out that there was going to be any sort of test of masculinity," he says. "That's yet another thing that tries to keep me every day waking up saying in the mirror, i'm not going to use to day." The last chapter is a letter to the young man on the bus who his book is related to.

Brian Broome is a poet, screenwriter, and instructor in the Writing Program at the University of Pittsburgh. He has been a finalist in The Moth storytelling competition and won the grand prize in Carnegie Mellon University’s Martin Luther King’s Writing Awards.
