The Morality of Intercession

In this life, there's nothing wrong in principle with calling out to another person and asking to speak with them. So why would it suddenly become immoral to do if the person were dead? And we already have evidence that initiating contact can be moral. In Saint Thomas Aquinas's quad liberal questions, he considers an issue very similar to this. He considered whether it was moral to ask a dying person to reveal their fate after death.
