The Spinning Wheel of Death

The Shinkansen bullet train system in Japan has had basically no injuries in like 40 years of operation. Part of it is this whole routine where the trains sit at the platform for 12 minutes before they leave the station again. It's seven minutes for a team of 22 people to clean a thousand seats. That's incredibly fast, but I can imagine if you're standing on the train platform and the doors are closed and you can't get into your train because they're cleaning it that that's seven minutes could really feel like a long time.
