The Rise and Fall of Yellow Journalism
In 1892, the Philadelphia Herald published a series of articles attacking Marsh. The attacks were in response to an earlier article that accused Marsh of plagiarism and incompetence. It became a kind of media event as both sides tried to counter each other with their own versions of events. This is what we call 'yellow journalism', which emerged at the end of the 19th century.
