As a kid I just intuited certain people that I felt were opening up. There were certain pieces of film and television that really moved me. And in my work, I slowly realized oh I guess that's what I'm supposed to be doing. The freaks and geeks episode which was by the way all about them. My parents had an unpleasant divorce when I was a kid. So it was a way for me to express some of the emotions around feeling awkward with your parents dating people and trying to navigate.
