The good thing about this is that none of this stuff is permanent. If if you guys try it out as a family and realize this isn't working for us, you can always make a change. People overestimate the value of bonds in their portfolio and underestimate the value of stocks. And life cycle funds generally operate on a principle of significant increases in the percentage of bonds in the portfolio compared to the percentage of stocks.
