The War Between the British and the Germans

Live and let live was an informal agreement between soldiers on the front line of opposing armies to not do any kind of offensive activity against each other. Any kind of fraternization or shirking was technically legal, so people couldn't rea talk about it. But there were a couple of studies done in the sixties and seventies looking at british forces in what were called 'the germans' They found that there was widespread general shirking. So you had a lot of examples where kan of the british soldiers would deliberately mortar a place that had nothing in it. And then the germans would do it back. Both sides were more likely to stay alive,
