The Golden Age of Alternative Media

The Clinton campaign and many others claim that basically fake news on the internet sponsored by foreign power, specifically Russia, was the reason that Trump was able to beat Hillary Clinton. And in the wake of this, we saw YouTube, Google, Facebook and all the other big social media platforms change their algorithms radically to promote what they said was authoritative content. But the problem with this is that the outcome wasn't to kick away really low quality conspiracy theories. What it was was ultimately the opportunity to kick away high quality all terms of media websites that had been kicking the ass of corporate media on the internet for years and years.
