The Relationship Between Death and Birth
Is there any human image that goes beyond death as a stranger, death as a friend, and death as an enemy? Sure, mother. And here's perhaps the oldest image of all for death: Death as a mother. A mother is a birth canal surrounded by a person. Well, maybe death is a door by which we exit the world, and maybe the whole world is a mother.
