How Did You Work on the Mission Impossible Movies?
With Top Gun, I was there at the naval bases starting early in the morning and finishing it late at night for day after day after day for months. The biggest piece of feedback that I could give on Top Gun was the fact that there wasn't very much visual energy in the shots because our cameras are locked off so they cannot move. We always prioritised putting the shots in the sequence which had a lot more visual energy from the horizon or from actors moving. Sometimes we would sit in the edit trailer and I would have marked up all the emotional beats that I thought we needed and show them.
