The Importance of Extrication Morality
The ticking bomb scenario is a pretty far fetched do we ever get real situations where the problem of dirty hands does arise? The sort of cases that I have considered in the past that look as though they're more plausible candidates for the dirty hands are what I call cases for extrication morality. It's maybe an unjust war that's been waged by your predecessor and you've got to do something about it. Maybe there are so many injured parties involved in this thing that stopping would be a really disastrous thing doing an immediate stop.
