For us to remember something, we have to condense all this multiplicity into images that we remember. And so the way we represent things ends up being patternd,. So that's really the basis of symbolism. It's an objective pattern that you can discern. But there's also a process by which you could say this way, that symbolism is the pattern of attention," he says.
