Is There a Pyramid?

In some ways it does, in the sense that the iniquities you see and things like come are also seen in academia. But i don't think this pyramid is so much based on merit. I mean, to some extent it is, but a lot of it is luck. It's such a simplisitic thing to think of it as a one dimensional line with a direction from lower to higher.
