The Origins of John's Revelation
In Revelation 1.4, there's a solocism in which John uses the word "pa-ein" (pronoun) instead of "ha-ein," meaning 'to come' This is an intentional mistake made by scribes who wanted to make it more clear that they were talking about one person and not all people at once. Since this is going to sound technical, I'll parse it in a moment for you. The first question scholars typically ask is: Where does John get his source text from? And there's broad agreement here.
