Hobbes thought that the way we acquired knowledge was through prudence, through observing the world. For Aristotle it's so much about just having the time to get the education that you need and to cultivate the virtues. But for Plato, while time plays a role as evidenced by this point about the city of pigs, there's a lot of emphasis on just having the kind of soul that can do all of this.
