The Political Confusion of the Third Reich

The 1932 presidential election perfectly represented the political confusion that was happening in Germany at this time. Traditional allegiances and traditional parties found it very difficult to exist in the new reality of the early 1930s. Hindenburg received the most votes, by a pretty wide margin, almost 20% more than any other candidate. He did not receive enough votes to reach a majority, coming just 0.4% short at 49.6%.
