The Medical Model of Disability
In the UK, it's estimated that one in five people find themselves as disabled. We have a very broad range of access and needs and experiences. The result of this is we are seen as requiring medical intervention or treatment. Angkitha herself is a health professional who was a detachment nurse in the First World War. She had very graphic experience of disability first-hand caring for disabled people.
