The Importance of Resistance in Mitzvah
A person who's commanded to do something has a natural resistance. Tysus wrote this 800 years ago, but boy is this modern. It's a natural resistance to being given orders. A voluntary mitzvah doesn't generate the same kind of resistance. Why wouldn't voluntary bits be a high amitzvah? So there are two explanations of this that I know. And your total voice I think is exactly correct.
