The Origins of the Greek Language
In a play, the various roles or characters were considered part of the conflict represented in the plot or story. The Greeks coined the term barbarian to refer to the uncivilized peoples who lived outside of Greece. This expansion of Greek influence will become very important in the next episode when we look at the early Latin speakers and the Etruscans in Italy.
