The Problem With Orthopedic Tests
The tests are great at provoking symptoms, but not so good at being structurally definitive. We're in a really difficult situation where we are reliant upon orthopedic tests to sort of derive a diagnosis and hypothesize us to what's causing the patient's symptoms. The moment a clinical test is testing more than one structure, we lose its ability to be specific. It can reproduce symptoms, but we can't actually identify what structure we're testing. So we're still very much in the diagnostic middle ages or black ages in terms of actually knowing what structure or structures are causing the symptoms.
