The Importance of the Idle in Mesopotamia
The idol of Marduk was created over two days by a specialized priest known as the Ashipu, who is also an exorcist. The ceremony is actually carried out over two days where the idol is set on a reed mat. There's a lot of plant material that's used and sacred language connected to plants. And so this is where a lot of what we would consider almost magic happens repeatedly,. But I don't remember how many times at least it's been done. Amy: This story launched me into another line of research where I'm looking at the sacredness of natural materials.
