Are We a Hardy Species That Can Survive Mass Extinction?

We have survived all kinds of mass extinctions, yes we have. Nuclear war is a great way of killing off everything on the planet. Life will survive, but we could end up becoming extinct. If there is a chikulob-like kind of event, a comet or asteroid that impacts the earth, and we are not able to prevent that from happening, that could most likely kill us off.
