The Black Cats - A Brief History
William was going into action armed only with a red cross brassard. Was told to report to euston station at 12 noon the second of july. Mary was determined to see me off and after a tearful farewell with my mother, we left for euston. We discovered that most of us were either pharmacists or pharmacy assistants like me. When the last man clambered in, the tail gate was slammed shut, and off we went. It was just like being in the infantry, but without a rifle.
