Is Attention Necessary for Working Memory?

There's a filtering mechanism that allows this infinite dimensional space to be filtered down to a lower dimensional space. In that sense, attention might be necessary for what would you say attention is necessary for working memory? I think there's different types of working memory and actually the seven or three in my case is more like three or four. But yes, I think it's, it's in this domain at least I think attention is necessary.
