Why We Don't Have a Direct Democracy
i think the reliance on opinion polls as a replacement for parliament does inevitably, especially in social media mediated times, produce these kinds of circle, vicious cycle, feedback loops that you just described. When when you don't have objective media questioning the government then there's no space put in between government policy and public feedback and response. It's stupid politics, right? Cause there's no indication that following the poles in that manner actually constitutes a reasonable way forward. You know, this is exactly why we don't have a direct democracy. Now we have a parliamentary democracy. And i hope that we get to get into that in a moment.
