I could write hundreds of lines of code a day back then, yes. And it was great. Learning the popular technology of the day was easier because i didn't have any preconceived notion of how stuff worked. Enjoy being not so jaded and burned by some one else's alleged good idea that ruins youri. Just do what other people say. Ah, it just feels so good. There's also less of a cost for you to switch on to something else. So you might get to play around with a bunch of different stuff. If if someone is a deep domain expert in imbedded systems, they are most likely not going to shift over to work on the front end.
