The Complexity of Gauguin's Paintings
Gauguin's paintings are really complex because when he got to Tahiti, all of the culture had been suppressed. He tried to present that to the west and they couldn't accept it. So in a way he was a revolutionary for his time - but I can also understand why we don't want his paintings in galleries.
