The Story of a Chimpanzee

The details jane goodall was collecting told the story of a complex society and individual lives that were as rich and dramatic as any humans. I observed how chimpanzees go to bed. A chimpanzee chooses a horizontal fork, then bends down the surrounding leafy branches over it. He holds these in place with his feet, while folding in all the little leafy sprouts for padding. Then he settles down with satisfaction. Only the small infants do not make their own nests, but sleep with their mothers.
