The Trade in Enslaved Women in the South
Some women in the south had at their disposal a market in enslaved women who served as wet nurses for their children. New Orleans was just as an aside, the largest slave market in the United States south in the 19th century. So these were two kind of darker dimensions of the slave trade that white southern women were involved in.
