PostgreSQL Advisory Lock
Advisory lock protects the whole operation, not just the transaction level. Tranquet cannot safely be executed concurrently with other operations. Most Postgres commands automatically acquire locks of appropriate modes to ensure that reference tables are not dropped or modified in incompatible ways while the automatic secutes.
