The trick is, what is a soul? We we know as humanity that something animates us. Something makes us more than the meat that we're made of. Some people woull call it soul, some people wou'll call it life, some people will call it consciousness. And so there is something that animates them. What is it? We don't know what that is. Now, do they have a soul? It's an even more intriguing question,. Like, what do we have?"
Mo Gawdat was Chief Business Officer of Google X, the experimental development arm of the internet behemoth. He's since written books on how to find happiness and his new one, Scary Smart, warns of the potential dangers posed to the world by super-smart artificial intelligence.
