Parks's lyrics were, to my mind, at least, the best the beach boys ever had. But while i profoundly disagree with love, i have a certain amount of sympathy for his position from love's perspective. Up until a few months earlier, he had been bran's principal song writing collaborator. He was still the most commercially successfl collaborator brian had had. This was a partnership, and it was being turned into a dictatorship without him having been consulted. It can't have helped that at the same time, the group's publicist, derrick taylor, was heavily pushing the line, brian wilson is a genius.
