Ivan Illich was the first really smart social philosopher that I ever read. My biggest counterculture influence is this book called the Robin Hood Handbook by Bill Casing, who later became slightly famous for moonlanding conspiracy theories. If you could sit and talk to certain people from history or some fiction writers like Emily Bronte, who would it be? You're not sure she'd have much to say to those other people.
