Henry Clay worked for his uncle's general and Purium store. He was extremely proud of being the grandson of Abraham Overholt, who he looked up to. Henry excelled in mathematics and developed a love for reading early in his life. His lack of physical strength restricted him from playing in popular sports but this made only made him more determined to succeed.
