The Effects of Acid Mine Drainage on the Ore Body
When the ore body is exposed to the atmosphere and precipitation, you can get things like acid mine drainage from just plain old rainfall. That acidified a drainage can mobilize other chemicals that are naturally occurring in the ore body. And those can be quite toxicn of course, you know, water flows where it will. The negative effects can flow quite far beyond the community in question.
