How Do You Think You Can Be Ahead of Your Time?
As an academic you can be ahead of your time and at some point if people get around to liking your ideas you were just visionary and it's great. If you're working a company if you're way ahead ofyour time you just die the company just dies, so in the industry you can't think too far ahead. I felt very fortunate because I could focus on both and like the truth is in the eye it's actually quite incredible how close fundamental advances are to real products that have real impact right away. It does make sense for large enough organizations that have their next couple of years figured out to start these bigger fundamental research teams to stay ahead of the change.
