The Challenge of Modern Politics for Weber
To be a political leader, you have to do more than just weigh up the consequences. The thing that weber thought most often happened in politics is that people discounted unintended consequences. And that it was too easy, particularly for revolutionary or transformational politicians, to forget that many of the most important things that happen in politics were not intended by any one. No one wanted them. They just happened because stuff happens when you use the modern state as your instrument.
