LZ Granderson: We think that language describes experience and you know Dorothy Sayers has some great essays on this in her commentary on Dante where she talks about that's not what the words are. LZ: Even the characters themselves are images. They're not a representation of a person especially when you read old books everybody's in every man. And there's a real sense in which you see through the story to the divine realm through the images that are presented to us in these word pictures but they're pictures, he says. "The universal human experience is not particular it is not superficial it is transcendent"
