How to Catheterize the Left Adrenal Vein

The textbook answer is use a large verse curve catheter, Simmons II or Simmons III. You drag it down the end of the left renal vein and then as you pull it back and it starts to unfold, it plops into the vernal adrenal chunk. However, that's not what we do because we like to get the catheter a little bit deeper. We tip deflect a barrese in catheter with a side hole on it into theleft renal vein and push it out beyond the frank adrenal chunks. This allows me to get more selective samples and you don't get that rare case where it's not diagnostic.
