The Politics of White Supremacy

During segregation in many southern towns, you could not pass a white person's car. Many people also told us stories that they would drive up to gas stations and they would be a line. The service station would service all the white people first, thereby letting black people know that they're last in line. In some cases, they wouldn't let you even leave when you wanted to.
