The idea that England is a classless society is very important to everyone in it, right? The English political elite of this time will not try to tell you that England is Classless. They're going to say, no, we have class and we're very proud of it. And we're proud that the right to people run things. Whereas in the US, this Jacksonian era, the sort of self conception is that there are no Classes.
