Monty Python are making fun of history. And they're also taking the piss out of everyone while at the same time celebrating the language. It's complex language delivered at speed by colorful characters and this is at the heart of the humor in this sketch. The lines are delivered with quite exaggerated and characterful intonation and sentence stress. So to highlight this, I'm going to try and read the script of this scene just to make it a bit clearer.
