Spotify's Financial Difficulties
More than half of people that use Spotify actually aren't paying for it, they have free accounts. It's subsidized in theory by ads, although it's never clear really most of Spotify's revenue comes from subscriptions rather than ads. As I say in the piece, and it doesn't seem to work totally well for Spotify because it doesn't make a profit or anything like that.
